Goran Antovski

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. Confucius said this. I see my “job” as less of a job and more of a journey of bettering myself to help others navigate some of life’s most difficult situations.

Early Years

I grew up in Macomb County after coming to America when I was four from Macedonia. I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer, but my “why” I became one has changed over the years. My journey started at Wayne State University when I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance. I then earned my Juris Doctorate from the Western Michigan Cooley Law School. While studying there, I fell in love with Constitutional Law and the trial advocacy program.

While in law school, I had the honor to work for the now-retired, Honorable Peter J. Maceroni of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court. I was able to observe civil and criminal cases, watch trials, engage in settlement conferences, and help in writing opinions concerning litigants who had cases before Judge Maceroni. Later, I also had the pleasure of spending time at the Macomb County Prosecutor’s office. Under the guidance of great mentors, I was able to participate in my first trials, argue motions, and conduct preliminary examinations.

Career

The best part of my “job” comes in the form of continuing my education so that I can be the best lawyer possible for those who need my help. As such, in September 2017, I was selected to train with some of the finest civil and criminal lawyers in the country at the Trial Lawyer’s College which was founded by Gerry Spence. I spent nearly a month in Wyoming working closely with some of the most dedicated trial lawyers I have ever met. We worked on civil and criminal cases from jury selection to closing arguments.

My journey continued in July of 2018 when I was selected and asked to participate in the Trial Practice Institute in Macon, Georgia which was put on by the National Criminal Defense College. Unlike in Wyoming, this training was devoted exclusively to criminal practitioners. Again, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the most devoted, hard-working individuals from throughout the country. This program began with jury selection and again finished with closing arguments.

Beliefs

My travels and work throughout the country have confirmed one of my core beliefs. The reason I decided to become a lawyer. That belief? You can’t learn caring. It’s simply there. Seeing the passion that others have for their causes confirms that mine is justified.

Whether in a civil or criminal situation, my goal is to use my skills, training, and beliefs to help those who come to me to obtain the best possible outcome. I have helped hundreds of people throughout my career. Whether it be obtaining hundreds of thousands of dollars for deserving victims or helping bring clarity and dignity to those accused of crimes, I will do whatever it takes to help people in the most difficult moments of their lives.

When I’m not busy doing what I love, I volunteer at my church, spend time with friends, and travel.
